Inventions that have changed the world in the last 10 years

Anything new that is usefully and created by man in the world is called an invention. Inventors are people who create something unique that didn’t exist before. For the past decade, several people have come up with the greatest inventions that improved living standards.

Let’s look at some of the inventions that have changed the world.

1 GOOGLE ASSISTANT 

This Google Assistant is installed on the Google Home, smart speaker, Google phones, and other devices. People command Google Assistant primarily by voice to compose messages, set calendar reminders, or search the internet for answers to their questions and can directly translate spoken words into 27 different languages.

Google Assistant has arguably become the most advanced personal AI Assistant used by people all over the world. Also, Google Assistant is now everywhere starting from Pixel phones in 2016, then smart home gadgets and chat apps, now on android tv.

2. CRISPR

CRISPR is a powerful gene-editing tool to modify gene function. Essentially, the technological process for slicing out undesired strands of DNA (disease) and replacing them with new ones. It is being used by scientists to cure diseases from sickle cell anaemia to cancer. For example, a Chinese scientist created genetically modified human embryos in late 2018. 

This technology has been around since the 90s, but it became popular and was adopted until 2010 when CRISPR Cas-9 was used to successfully splice DNA. Later, in 2013, it was further used for genome editing in a eukaryotic cell. For example, a Chinese scientist used CRISPR technology to alter the genes of a pair of twins last year.

3.iPad 

The iPad was mocked by many people at the time of its launch because of its name and for its awkward size which looked like a big phone or a small computer. Till today the iPad has sold almost 400 million units and spawned rivals Amazon, Microsoft, Samsung, and Google. Nowadays, tablets have become crucial devices for business. They have made the food service industry more efficient by substituting cash registers and helping track inventory.

4.THE SELF-DRIVING CAR

Google and Apple secretly began testing fully self-reliant cars in the first half of this decade. Most of the prominent car manufacturers, MNCs like Uber and Lyft, have adopted it. Nowadays, passengers can enjoy self-driving cabs in cities like Phoenix and Pittsburgh. 

5. INSTANT MONEY TRANSFER

Several online apps promote the instant, direct and safe way to send and receive money throughout the world.

Venmo was introduced by college roommates Andrew Kortina and Iqram Magdon-Ismail in 2010. Owned by PayPal, Venmo is a mobile payment service that allows people to simply send and request money from each other by tapping a few buttons on their smartphone. While Venmo has made exchanging money easier, the app is now used for everything from dinner bills to paying rent.

It was bought by PayPal in 2015 and added 40 million annual users. There is an expectation that its payment volume to exceed $100 billion.

6. SPACEX’S REUSABLE ROCKET

CEO of Tasla and SpaceX Elon Musk, have visionary ideas and inventions that can be world-changing. SpaceX spent much of the decade inventing its reusable rocket system.  The Falcon 9 rocket which was introduced in December 2015, made its first flight into orbit and then landed at Cape Canaveral. It ushered in a new era of space travel and it could also be much affordable whenever one would like to vacate Earth entirely and move civilization to Mars.

7.RIDE-HAILING COMPANIES

Uber was introduced in 2009, its application and ride-hailing service first launched in year 2011 in San Francisco. Its biggest US competitor, Lyft also followed in 2012. Uber leveraged 4G networks and the built-in GPS abilities of smartphones to upend an entire industry. Also, it has turned into one of the most renowned tech startup unicorns of the decade by changing the way we hail rides. 

8.DRONE 

Although the consumer drone market is now filled with plenty of competitors, it all started back in 2013 with the original DJI Phantom. It comprises a remote-controlled quadcopter with an HD camera. After its creation it only used for surveillance and not for public use. But nowsday anyone with some decent income can buy it. DJI has proceeded to improve on its Phantom model with the better operation, higher-res camera, video capture ability and longer battery life.

9.RING DOORBELL

Jamie Siminoff invented the ring doorbell in 2013 and got rejected unanimously when he pitched it on Shark Tank. Five years later, Amazon bought his company in $1 billion price. The Wi-Fi-enabled doorbell have feature of recording video automatically, when a motion is detected by sensors. Also, its two-way intercom permits homeowners to speak with the person at their door via an app. Ring doorbells can reduce break-ins by 50 per cent because they have high tech home-security features.

Whether you are inside your home, at work, or on a vacation, the system is created to let you see, who is in the door and also allow to answer their voice .

Just as how these inventions were created by people, you can also create invention. But after creating an invention you should check its novelty (uniqueness) before launching invention in the market to save yourself from get sued by infringement of existed patent.
